Madhuri Dixit, also known as Madhuri Dixit-Nene, is an Indian film actress who is known for her work in Hindi cinema. She is often cited as one of the best actresses of Bollywood, renowned as the original dancing diva. Madhuri enjoyed major critical and commercial success during the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s. Madhuri made her film debut in ‘Abodh’(1984) and received wider public recognition with ‘Tezaab’(1988). Dixit went on to establish herself as one of Hindi cinema’s leading actresses, acknowledged for several of her performances, beauty, smile and accomplished dancing.

Madhuri Dixit was born on May 15' 1967 in a Marathi-Brahmin family to Shankar and Snehlata Dixit. She attended Divine Child High School and later graduated from Mumbai University. From her childhood itself Dixit had a passion for dance and from that very age she started to learn dancing. Madhuri is an accomplished Kathak dancer which also helped her to dance extraordinarily in films like 'Tezaab', 'Dil', 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' and several other hits. She wanted to become a Micro-biologist and also pursued it from Parle College, Vile Parle (East), Bombay. After making her debut she acted in approximately 66 films. She has been in hits like Ram Lakhan, 100 days, Khalnayak, Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Devdas and many more.

Madhuri Dixit was also involved in playback singing for 'Devdas' and 'Wajood'. She has won 12 awards from constituting Filmare, Star Screen and Zee for her performance in movies. Madhuri was titled 'Actress of the Millennium' in 2000 and also has her name in 'Guinness Book of Records Millennium' version highest paid Indian actress. Even after turning near fifties her real age seems to be just 30. Ram Gopal Verma paid a tribute to her by making a film titled "Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon".

Acting may have been her calling card, but it is dance that has kept Madhuri Dixit going. The actress, who gave a new dimension to her passion by launching an online dance academy 'DancewithMadhuri.com' in 2013, success has now encouraged her to revamp the website. She said, "We are revamping the website and upgrading the whole system. Plus, we are adding a lot of new elements like heart rate monitor, a combination of dance and exercise to get people to stay in shape and much more. People often ask me how I stay fit and I always say it's dance. Not everybody thinks that they are dancers and they want to learn dance, but they would love to dance to keep themselves fit."

The Dhak Dhak girl of bollywood, Madhuri Dixit broke millions of hearts when she got married to Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene, a Cardiovascular Surgeon on October 17' 1999. Sriram Madhav Nene was a surgeon in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A. After marriage Dixit moved to Denver, U.S. with her husband where he used to practice, for almost a decade. In October 2011, Madhuri again shifted back to her origin Mumbai along with Sriram and kids.

Madhuri Dixit and Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene have two kids Arin (age: 10 years) born in March 2003 and Raayan (age: 8 years) born in March 2005.
